We work hard to place our dogs in permanent, loving homes and we carefully screen every adopter to ensure a perfect match. Take a look at our adoptable dogs. Click on a dog's name to learn about their temperament, age and skills, and to see multiple photos. Some of our dogs also have videos.
The first step to adoption is completing our adoption application. An adoption application must be submitted and approved in order to meet a dog. See the steps to adopting from TCDR for more details about our process. To understand your responsibilities, review our sample adoption contract.
Every dog adopted from Texas Cattle Dog Rescue is spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and tested/treated for heartworms. While in foster care, our dogs are given flea and heartworm preventative. Our adoption fees are as follows:
Who should I contact if I have questions about a specific dog?
Please read the dog's description to learn about temperament and personality. If you have additional questions, contact us.
What is your adoption process?
We strive to create happy homes for our dogs and their adopters. Read our steps to adopting.
Where can I go to meet the dogs in person?
TCDR dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted. We only allow approved adopters to meet the dogs. Complete our adoption application to start the process.
Where are the dogs located?
Each dog's description includes his/her location.
Do you adopt outside of Texas?
We adopt primarily within Texas. On occasion, we will adopt to people in immediately adjoining states. There are situations when we need to keep a dog in Texas, like the dog's temperament, health, or ability to travel. We do not ship dogs or adopt dogs sight unseen. The adopter would need to come meet the dog in person prior to adoption and would transport the dog home. If for any reason the dog is not working out in the new home, TCDR will always take the dog back. The out-of-state adopter will be responsible for transportation. You may want to consider adopting from a shelter or from rescue closer to you.
What if the dog I adopt is not working out?
You may return the dog at anytime throughout his/her life. We cannot refund your adoption fee after one week in home.
Where do these dogs come from?
They come from shelters or are strays.
What kind of veterinary care do give the dogs?
TCDR dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated, if necessary. You will receive the dog's vet records when you sign the adoption contract.
Why are puppy adoption fees higher?
Pups require multiple rounds of shots and worming which increases our expenses.
We rescue more than 100 dogs each year. All are looking to be matched with great homes. Take a look at our dogs currently in foster. And keep in mind we get several new dogs every month.
Donations of any amount are gladly accepted and help defray the cost of veterinary care and supplies.
